Since I’m looking forward to Paige and Andy’s Miami Beach wedding this weekend, I wanted to look back at the amazing afternoon we spent at the Palms on Miami Beach for their engagement session.
Miami Beach Engagement Photography
We spent some time shooting in the beautiful gardens first—to set the tone of stunning scenery—before we headed down to the beach. These two have a natural chemistry, and that combined with the always romantic beach setting produced some classic engagement portraits. These photographs are so very them—combining their love of the beach with a bit of art deco flair.
But while the beach was perfect for Paige and Andy, I know it can sometimes be difficult to choose a location for an engagement session in South Florida. After all, there are so many fabulous options around here! But when I talk to my couples, I always suggest that you look at locations that reflect your personalities. You want to find something with great light, of course, but most importantly, you want to feel relaxed together.
Whether you prefer the beach or a historic venue like Vizcaya or the comfort of your own home with a cup of coffee and a couch to cuddle on, you should feel at ease. That’s the best way to capture the connection that you have with each other.
As for lighting, I highly recommend starting your sessions around the last two hours before sunset. This gives you time to get comfortable in front of the camera before the beautiful “golden hour” light just as the sun starts to set.
As you can see from Andy and Paige’s pictures, that ease and beauty lead to engagement photographs that look like something out of a magazine! When I can capture a couple in their element, it’s always a thrill.
Andy & Paige, thank you again for asking me to be part of your wedding celebrations. I love photographing you both!
