Sarah and Ben were married on a beautiful fall day, with a ceremony and reception at the Edition Miami Beach. Their wedding was also featured on Carats & Cake: http://caratsandcake.com/sarahandben.
I started the day with Sarah as she finished getting ready in her suite and then shared a quiet moment with her parents before the wedding. The emotion in the air was palpable between the three of them before they parted company and I took Sarah down to see Ben for the first time.
The weather had been windy and a bit wet leading up to that first look, but nothing was going to stop the true joy and love Sarah and Ben have for each other. Even when the skies opened up and it started to rain, the happy couple just laughed about the weather as we ran for cover. Luckily, the inside of the hotel is just as beautiful as the outside. We even got to shoot a few portraits in the BASEMENT—complete with a bowling alley and ice skating rink.
Despite the weather and change of venue, that first look produced some of my favorite images of the whole day. Complimenting Sarah’s gorgeous smile, the pictures by the bougainvillea flowers at the pool made stunning images. Their natural ease made for beautiful images.
The weather continued to get involved as the day continued, but Sarah and Ben weren’t having it. At one point during the ceremony, the winds picked up and took Sarah’s veil off, carrying it into a nearby palm tree. Without skipping a beat, Sarah and Ben laughed with their guests and carried on with the ceremony.
Their laughter and determination to have the best wedding day no matter what carried on into the reception as well, where their smiles lit up the whole room. I loved that Sarah created and designed all of the invitations, table numbers, and seating cards. It was the perfect personal touch.
Ben and Sarah, thank you for letting me share in your wedding day. Sometimes, the weather can be unpredictable, and on your special day you need to embrace the moments, laugh through the wind and rain, and enjoy every moment.
