Christina and Sam were married on a beautiful day, with a ceremony and reception at the Bath Club in Miami.
Some of my favorite moments on a wedding day happen during the “getting ready” portion before the party gets going, and that was definitely the case here. Even the location itself was meaningful, as Christina chose to get ready at her grandmother’s home, a place that held many memories of growing up and being with her own family for large celebrations and get-togethers. She was surrounded by years of love and laughter in that home, which brought a wonderful sense of joy and peace to the day.
Once Christina was ready, that same sense of peace permeated the entire day. When Christina’s mom first saw her daughter in a wedding dress, she was positively beaming with joy. But when Christina walked out to see her bridal party and her dad, the tears really started to flow. As a photographer, I love moments like that. I get the most beautiful, natural photos when my couples take a few moments out of their big day to connect with family.
Sam and Christina had taken the traditional approach of waiting to see each other when the ceremony began, so Christina rode to the Bath Club with her father in a vintage Rolls Royce. Of course, that meant when Sam did finally get to see his bride, he was barely able to hold back his emotions as she walked down the aisle at the exact moment the sun was setting through the arched windows. The entire intimate ceremony brought the whole wedding party to tears.
As the last moments of the day turned to night, I was able to grab a few portraits with Christina and Sam before the reception got underway. Once again, it was family togetherness that stole the show when Sam’s three daughters toasted the newlyweds with a heartfelt and funny speech to get the party started.
Sam & Christina, thank you for asking me to be part of your beautiful wedding day. I was touched by not only your love for each other but your love for your families and their love for you. Thank you!
